Mavs fans invited to ‘bleed blue’ at new practice facility

Dallas Mavericks to host Carter BloodCare drive and open gym for the public

The Dallas Mavericks blood drive is on December 30, and we’re shooting for 500 donations to help boost the blood supply as we head into the challenging month of January. All blood donors will receive a tour of the new Mavs practice facility – never before opened to the public; a pair of tickets to an upcoming game; and a custom t-shirt designed for the event which reads “Mavs Fans Bleed Blue,” not to mention a pair of Carter BloodCare socks.

WHEN:          9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, December 30

Blood drives are essential to sustaining the community blood supply, especially during the holidays.

This is notoriously a low-collection season for blood centers, even though medical treatments for patients must continue.

600 to 800 patients require blood transfusions daily.

One simple donation of a pint of blood can help at least three patients.

Donors can look for 12 buses and nearby Carter BloodCare representatives to get the blood donation process started.  Donors may also sign up in advance by visiting carterbloodcare.org and selecting an appointment time. Walk-ups are welcome, but appointments are honored at the times for which they are selected.

More activities at the Mavs ‘Bleed Blue’ Blood Drive:

  • Shoot arounds for prizes, on the practice court
  • Appearances by and photos with the ManiACCs, Mavs Dancers, and a Mavs Mascot
  • Live radio broadcasts by several Cumulus radio stations
  • Food provided by Eatzi’s after your blood donation
  • Tours of Community Beer Company ($15 value)  – located at the practice facility
